All about Bible Animals by Simona Piscioneri, published by The Good Book Company, is a fun, Biblically-interactive and educational book for children. It’s filled with over 100 facts, and shares God’s beautiful creation, truth, and the Word of God, cleverly helping children to learn and understand different parts of the Bible that they read.
I know younger me would have really loved reading this book (although I’m still really enjoying reading it now!) as I’m a huge animal lover. This book is great for children who also love animals, to help them learn more about God’s creation, and how animals are an important part of that.

Throughout the Bible, different kinds of animals are mentioned. They play a significant part in it, and are a very important part of our world now. We first read in the Book of Genesis:
“And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.’ So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”
We also read in Genesis:
“And God said. “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.”
Each time we read, we see that God saw it was good. Animals were an important part of the world from the very beginning. We read how God created animals before we even read about God creating man. Through all the different animals, we can see just how beautiful and intentional God’s creation is, especially in the uniqueness of each and every one, how they help the earth that we live on, and how they help mankind too.

Binky is very excited to be helping me review this book, especially when he saw that there was a bear on the front cover! As we were spending the weekend on our boat, he insisted that I brought it with me for us to read together (you may also spot the two cormorants in the background, who I think were very interested in the book too!)
This book is aimed at children aged 7 years and over. It explores the different books of the Bible from Genesis, all the way to Peter’s vision that we read of in Acts 10, exploring different themes such as forgiveness, God’s love, sin, trust, God’s miracles, and much more.
For each animal that features, the author has indicated where children can read about that particular one in the Bible, and also its significance such as the snake in the Garden of Eden in the Book of Genesis, the whale in the Book of Jonah, the lions in the Book of Daniel, and the animals that we read in the Book of Psalms, and in the New Testament.

It also has a quiz at the end for children to recap on what they have learned.
“As well as providing fascinating facts about Bible animals, this resource will help children to engage with the Bible in a whole new way and marvel at the God who made everything. As author Simona Piscioneri says in her introduction:
“The Bible says that when we look at his creation, it helps us understand God. Next time you are amazed by the details of a tiny ladybird, the swimming action of a platypus or the strength of a soaring eagle, remember: that’s God showing you what he is like.”

This beautifully-presented book comes with a hardback cover, and makes a wonderful gift for children and their loved ones to read together, and one that children will want to come back to time and time again. I’m sure it’s one that adults will enjoy reading too! It will make a great addition to any church’s bookshelf.
