Happy Thursday! I am very honoured to be taking part in the blog tour for The Little Theatre on the Seafront by Katie Ginger. I was very kindly sent a copy of this book to read on my Kindle and review for Clem Loves. I’ve got a very exciting guest post below by Katie too, so be sure to scroll down and give it a read. I have also wrote my review a little further down too. I absolutely loved reading this book so much. The story follows love, friendship and loss and everything in between. I couldn’t wait to get home and put on some comfy pjs, make myself a hot chocolate, get comfy under a warm blanket and read this book. I even took my kindle to work with me so I could read it on my break! This is one story I did not want to end. If only the characters were real and I could be friends with all of them. The Little Theatre on the Seafront is a joy and pleasure to read.

Before Lottie’s nan passed away, she wrote Lottie a letter, explaining how she wants Lottie to take over her nan’s role and to save the theatre. Lottie ignores the letter to begin with, but after it comes up in conversation, she realises that maybe she can do this. Along with the help of her best friend Sid, Lottie decides to do this and to try and make it a success. Along the way, Lottie and Sid’s friendship is tested, new friends and relationships are made, emotions run wild and unforeseen events happen that are very unexpected. As Lottie helps bring the Greenley Players together and meets a handsome stranger in the process, not everyone is who they seem.

I think one of the first things that made me fall in love with this book to start with, is the title. The Little Theatre on the Seafront. Two of my favourite things. The theatre and the seaside. Also not forgetting the beautiful front cover of the book. This book really does have everything! I found the characters so relatable and each one has their own unique personality. Don’t worry i’m not giving away any spoilers, as I know how frustrating that can be, especially when it’s a book this good and one you definitely must read. I am just so in love with this story, which is beautifully and brilliantly written. The emotion I felt when I finished reading The Little Theatre on the Seafront! I felt tears in my eyes, mostly because I didn’t want the story to be over, but also because I truly enjoyed reading this book and it made me feel so happy. This is a beautiful romance story. But not your typical romance story, as I mentioned above, the characters are very relatable and I really found myself relating to them throughout, and it really made me think about certain situations and events that have happened in my life too. I felt as though that sometimes, I was in the story myself!

I adore Katie’s style of writing and I’m very excited to read more by Katie. I was rooting for Lottie throughout. As I was reading, I could picture every moment of each character, what they were wearing, what they looked like, the surroundings. Isn’t it amazing when a book can do this. The strong friendship between both Lottie and Sid really put a smile on my face. It really reminded me of the relationship between one of my old best friends and myself. It is truly breathtaking and also inspiring. Lottie has really inspired me so much, with her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to helping those around her, the theatre and making her nan proud.

Hello Clem and everyone here at Clem Loves!

Thank you so much for letting me jabber on for a little while as part of the blog tour for The Little Theatre on the Seafront!

One of the things people ask me about writing is whether I plot my stories out or whether I sit down and write and see where the story takes me. The answer is, that I am definitely, without doubt, a plotter!

Trying to write without an idea of what I want to achieve at the end of it makes me massively stressed out and then I panic! I definitely prefer to have a clear plot written down. In fact, I have a spreadsheet! (Sad, I know).

I start off with a notebook and jot down ideas for the plot, characters and settings, and then once I know what I want to happen, I transfer that information to a spreadsheet. I don’t do chapter outlines, I much prefer to have a list of plot points I want to hit. For me, the creative part comes in when I sit down and start writing because it takes as many words as is needed to get to each plot point. Some I hit quickly, others take more time.

Also, characters don’t always behave the way they should! Sometimes I’ll be writing and suddenly something will happen because it feels it’s meant too and then I have to adjust my outline. Once the characters take on a life of their own they can start to misbehave! I love it when they do that, it means they’re becoming real with their own personalities.

I’ve found that by having a plan I have a better grasp of the timeline and can make sure everything happens when it’s supposed to. That’s not to say things don’t go wrong! They often do and I have to try and fix it during the editing process. But I suppose it wouldn’t be as much fun if it turned out perfect every time!

Everyone is different though, so I think it’s important to just write and see what works for you. Every time I do I refine my process a little more, or learn something new. That’s the fun of writing!
